New Innovations: Subacromial Shoulder Balloon Arthroplasty
The InSpace subacromial balloon spacer (Stryker) is a minimally invasive, biodegradable, FDA-cleared implant. The InSpace spacer is a temporary spacer that restores the anatomic relationships between the shoulder's bones. The spacer is designed to restore the subacromial space without the need for fixation devices or sutures. It can be inserted arthroscopically through a half inch incision. No immediate lifting or motion restrictions after the incisions have healed. The spacer degrades within 6-12 months. It's use may avoid the need for more invasive surgery such as reverse total shoulder replacement.
Biobrace Patch for Rotator Cuff Tears
The BioBrace is a special synthetic patch used in rotator cuff surgeries to help the tendon heal better and faster. It acts like a temporary support structure, giving the shoulder extra strength while the body repairs itself. Made from natural and safe materials, it gradually dissolves as new, healthy tissue grows in its place. It also helps guide the body’s healing process by encouraging new cells and blood vessels to form. This can lead to fewer re-tears and a quicker recovery, especially in larger or more difficult injuries.
